Curiosity about people, places and cultures —and connecting with them — drives me personally and professionally. That's why I love hosting the annual StratCommWorld strategic communications conference (www.stratcomm.world). I meet fascinating and accomplished people like Spencer Stone, a brave hero who prevented a massacre aboard a high-speed train en route to Paris from Amsterdam.
I derive great satisfaction from sharing communication strategies that I have developed and executed for companies and clients on six continents — with students in our Global Strategic Communication Master's Degree Program at the University of Florida.

My family is my passion, and I am blessed by their company. We enjoy everything about living on the Sun Coast of Florida and on the water near Charlevoix, Michigan. Pure Michigan! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGjcoq8nsxY
People say I'm "lucky," but in fact, it's all the result of hard work.
I believe our lives are the sum of all the decisions we've made to-date.
As strategic communications officers, we have a timely opportunity to lead change in the perception of our distinct cultures and people and in the practice of public affairs and strategic communications during these turbulent and unpredictable times.
At StratCommWorld 2023 we looked forward, exploring new capabilities required of CCOs in corporate, military, gov't and non-profit organizations, as well as strategies to succeed. New ideas were shared among 100+ colleagues attending from eight countries.
Like so many others, I was saddened by the passing of Harold Burson. I had the privilege of knowing Harold some 30 years. We first met when I was a mid-career professional, and he and I were active in the International Public Relations Association.
The Little Traverse Conservancy is preserving significant land and scenic areas, and fostering appreciation and understanding of the environment.
I support and encourage individuals with mental and physical challenges. One initiative I love is Challenge Mountain, which works to enable individuals with special needs to participate in outdoor activities and to experience cultural and social outings.
What a pleasure it was to host this executive roundtable event at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore. Part of the StratCommWorld events family.
